Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday called on the United States to “come back to the negotiating table” as he blasted US President Donald Trump for fueling “economic terrorism” by imposing “unlawful unilateral sanctions” against the Islamic Republ
We invite you (the US) to come back to the negotiating table you left,” Rouhani told the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Rouhani lambasted Trump for ripping the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers and restoring “unjust” sanctions against Islamic Republic.
“Beginning the dialogue starts with ending threats and unjust sanctions that negate the principles of ethics and international law,” he said, adding that “Our proposal is clear: commitment for commitment; violation for violation; threat for threat; and step for step, instead of talk for talk.”
The Iranian president urged the US to stop “bullying” and fulfill its commitments under the nuclear deal.
Rouhani said the US “economic war” on has negatively affected both Iranians and people of other countries.
