Prince William and Kate Middleton's Royal Staff Threatens to Strike

Employees at Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's residence, are threatening to strike because of a proposed pay cut for some staff. Staff fear that they'll lose up to $5,000 per year after the charity that manages the salaries decided they might have to tighten up the spending reigns. But some former staff members say when you work for the royals you don't do it for the money.

TheTodayshowreportedthat those very "close" to the royal family are not among those debating walking out on them. Those involved are reportedly those who look after exhibits, work in ticket officers or show visitors around the grounds. A spokeswoman for Historic Royal Palaces told British publicationMetro U.K. in a statement, "We have given a year's notice of the planned changes and are currently in discussions with the Public and Commercial Services Union."

She added, "We value our staff very highly and hope to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement."

The palace remains open as usual, and the discussions between HRP and the union haven't caused any disruptions.
