It is without a doubt one of the most bizarre global smash-hits in recent years.

But five years after Psy became a worldwide name with thanks to his hit Gangam Style, and its equally zany video, the infectious tune has lost one of its biggest honours to another song.

The video has been YouTube's most viewed video for half a decade, that is until Tuesday, when a new music video eclipsed its viewing total.

But what artist could rival the 2,894,426,475 views clocked up by the 39-year-old South Korean pop star? Beyonce? Possibly Ed Sheeran? Maybe even Taylor Swift?

Though they are all globe-conquering stars the honour of having YouTube's most viewed goes to Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth.

The pair's collaboration, See You Again - which was penned for the blockbuster Furious 7 - has now clocked up a mind-boggling 2,895,373,709 plays on the site.

Having only just discovered the news himself, Charlie took to Twitter to express his shock at the landmark achievement.

The 25-year-old singer tweeted: "For the record, I joined @YouTube in 2007 hoping to make a video that would reach 10,000 views. Just heard about See You Again...wow."

The song, which bagged six awards following its release, went to number one in 26 countries.

Written for the first of the Fast & Furious films to be released following Paul Walker's death, the emotional song played over the closing credits in a tribute to the actor, who died in a car accident before the film was completed.
